Here are just a few of the most frequently asked questions before quotation and fitting.
1) What materials do you use for Wardrobe, Shelving and Base Cabinet construction?
Answer: 18mm/12mm/6mm MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is used in most cases as it is stable, takes paint well to provide a high quality finish, and is very reasonably priced compared to solid or veneered board.
2.) Do items come pre-painted?
Answer: Prices are usually based on an unpainted finish. The item is filled and sanded ready for paint application.
We also work in a variety of veneered MDF boards which can be oiled or lacquered to look like solid timber for a third of the price. This is a 1.5mm skin of solid timber glued to an MDF board. A large range of timber finishes available the most popular being Oak and The Walnut.
Birch Ply also compares in price to veneered MDF but has a lighter more modern feel and a decorative striped edge created by the layers of ply used in it's construction.
3) Can you provide a price for painting?
Answer: Yes, we send a picture of you finished design to our painter for an accurate quotation on hand-painting.
Should you want the doors spray-finished, we can price per unit and arrange collection and re-fitting.
4) Will there be much dust?
Answer: All the major cutting to size of materials is done in the workshop and cabinets are made in kit form to be assembled on site. This prevents too much dust and also eliminates the risk of damage when carrying large items through the house.
When cutting on site Festool electrical tooling is attached to an extraction hose to hoover dust as soon as power is switched on.
5) How long will a Wardrobe take to fit?
Answer: A standard wardrobe will take one person 2.5 days included filling and sanding.
